Progress of the project to develop end-of-waste criteria for Plaster Mold waste



Department of Industrial work (DIW) held the 1st public hearing for End of Waste criteria development for Plaster Mold waste under the project on "Provision of services relative to end-of-waste management in Thailand focusing on Plaster Mold waste." with the relevant agencies on April 17, 2024.


The representatives from the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Pollution Control Department (PCD), the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), and other relevant government agencies, including private sector, participated in the meeting to discuss about End of Waste criteria focusing on two main issues:

(1) The process of End-of-Waste criteria development by turning properly managed industrial waste into a new raw material for production process or products (Secondary Raw Material).

(2) Organizational structure, roles, and responsibilities of agencies involved in criteria development, to create a network among all sectors for developing industrial waste management based on the concept of circular economy.


In the meeting, the researcher presented the policies related to End of Waste criteria, and project implementation approach in Thailand. the comment from relevant agencies and stakeholders will be involved for further development [1].


DIW has been supporting for industrial waste management under the concept of the End-of-Waste policy, in collaboration with both government sector and private sector, to find solutions for improving on industrial waste management. As for the “End of Waste”, DIW held a kick-off meeting for the project on "Provision of services relative to end-of-waste management in Thailand focusing on Plaster Mold waste." This is one of the pilot projects to study a feasibility on production of gypsum boards used in construction from plaster mold on January 16, 2024. [2], then held a meeting to follow up on the progress of the project and share the results of the laboratory tests, the gypsum board production from used plaster molds (Pilot scale), including product mockup creation on March 20, 2024 [3].
