Illegal dumping found in Phachi District, Nakorn Sri Ayuttaya Province

Over 4,000 tons of Industrial Waste illegally stored in a warehouse at Phachi Sub-district, Phachi District, Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Province was reported and the Department of Industrial Works (DIW) together with the Pollution Control Department (PCD), Phra Nakhon Si Ayutthaya Provincial Industry Office and other relevant agencies have been inspecting the case since February 27, 2023 and identified suspicious warehouses with piles of materials around the areas.


Office identified Suntech Chemical and Logistics Co., Ltd., as the owner of two warehouses on March 10, 2023, where the officers found illegal dumping (or storage) of liquids such as oil sludge, paint residue, and solvents stored in 200-liter barrels, as well as a lot of plastic waste on courtyard. DIW issued an order the company to shut down their business, and properly dispose of hazardous waste by March 30, 2023.


Upon receipt of request for cooperation from DIW, The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and other companies in Phachi District work for the case of illegal dumping by fill contaminated wastewater in IBC tank (Intermediate Bulk Container) as well as collect plastic waste and other contaminated material in big bags, and temporary stored in the warehouses.


On April 3, 2023, Officers received another report as for illegal dumping of industrial waste in private area located about 3 kilometers from the warehouse and found that there are six suspicious pits filled by thick black liquid with foul smell, and a large number of big bags with black, gray, and brown powder. The officer is under investigation relationship between the cases.


Afterwards, the relevant agencies will continue to follow up on illegal dumping cases in Phachi District, and they will use the case of the Wax Garbage Recycling Center Co., Ltd., Ratchaburi Province (the Ratchaburi Model) as a model for management.
