DIW discussed with MOEJ on Industrial Waste Management


Department of Industrial Works (DIW) discussed with Ministry of Environment, Japan (MOEJ) for solving industrial waste management challenges while MOEJ is willing to provide technical knowledge for enhancement of industrial waste management in Thailand.

 

the Director-General of the Department of Industrial Works (DIW), along with the President of Thailand Environment Institute, Representatives from the Department of Pollution Control (PCD), the Department of Health (DOH), and Chulalongkorn University, visited the Ministry of Environment, Japan (MOEJ) during April 23rd-25th, 2024, and discussed on a collaboration for solving industrial waste management challenges in Thailand.


In the meeting focused on three topics as follows:

1.Technical Support for preparation on Thailand's Industrial Waste Management Master Plan

2. Enhancing the control of transboundary movements of hazardous waste accordance with the Basel Convention

3. Improving guidelines and regulation for WEEE Management in Thailand based on acceptance by all sectors


From this meeting, MOEJ agreed to support in Industrial Waste Management Master Plan preparation within the current fiscal year and provided technical knowledge in environmental field to the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. this collaboration is expected to contribute to the enhancement of environmental management in Thailand, towards a Circular-Green Economy.
