On July 15, 2024, Bangkok Bank Public Company Limited, represented by Mr. Aphiwat Punnopakorn, Vice President, Public Relations Department, as the project operator of “Bualuang Save the Earth: Rak Tha Chin”, which helps trap waste in the river before it flows into the Gulf of Thailand at the mouth of the Tha Chin River, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Khok Kham Subdistrict Administration Organization, Mueang Samut Sakhon District, Samut Sakhon Province, along with relevant partner agencies to further develop value from waste through the joint promotion of the "Don't Cry I Care" sustainable waste sorting project to return funds to the community. The project will establish a community recyclable waste bank to increase the value of recyclable waste and usable items, generate income for waste bank members, and share various forms of social welfare with people in the community under the concept of "Sell for Generating Income, Give for Sharing" to create tangible sustainability in waste management.
Bangkok Bank has implemented the Bualuang Save the Earth: Rak Tha Chin project by installing 3 types of waste traps in water sources: floating waste traps (booms), floating bamboo baskets for waste trapping, and stake-type waste traps in the pilot areas of Luang Sahakon Canal and Pittayalongkorn Canal, Khok Kham Subdistrict, Mueang Samut Sakhon District, Samut Sakhon Province, since February 2024. These Canals collect a large amount of waste from various communities. Over the past four months, the project has been able to trap 14,459 kilograms of waste, of which the most is plastic (6,670 kilograms), followed by foam (5,755 kilograms), glass bottles (956 kilograms), paper (452 kilograms), metal (427 kilograms), and other waste (199 kilograms).
